Children in grades Pre-K or K, 2, and 4 as well as new students are required by New York State law to have a physical. An examination done in New York State within 12 months of the start of the school year is acceptable.

New legislation requires students entering sixth grade to be immunized against chicken pox (varicella). Also students who are entering 6th grade and who are 11 years of age or older must receive an immunization containing Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis (Tdap).
