Fire Safety Lesson

Windsor Volunteer Firefighters Craig Terrell, Steve Brown, Josh Hoyt, and Cooper Bump visited Palmer Elementary School Thursday to talk about simple but important actions that students can take to help keep themselves and their families safe from home fires. The theme of their presentation was, "Fire won't wait. Plan your escape."

During their classroom visits, they discussed the importance of creating and practicing a home fire escape plan as well as determining a safe family meeting spot outside of the home. They shared the importance of having working fire detectors throughout the home, including in every bedroom. Students also reviewed fire drill procedures in the event of a fire occurring at school.

Students saw real firefighting equipment, received a Windsor Fire Department helmet, and important information to share with their families.
