Summer Program Recap - July 19

Students at the Windsor CSD elementary camps began their week with a little magic. Magician Jonas Cain performed virtually in front of audiences at Bell, Weeks, and Palmer Elementary schools. His #positivity magic show interspersed lighthearted, optimistic messages with card tricks and illusion.

Windsor Strong Academy campers continued to explore their community. Students walked around Windsor to find signs of unity. They also engaged in a “fact or opinion” lesson, learning that we sometimes accept opinions as facts, especially regarding stereotypes.
Four athletic camps began Monday: golf, soccer, football, and volleyball. Volleyball players worked on underhand and overhand passing, and weight-shift serving. On Tuesday, campers will review passing and add spiking and defensive work.

Football campers had an NFL-style combine with a 40-yard dash, agility drills, and a standing long jump. They also practiced linemen drills, receiving drills, and running back drills.

Soccer campers separated into five stations, each captained by a Windsor varsity soccer player. The stations covered the skills of juggling, passing with both feet, shooting, volley (receiving the ball in the air with a header, knee, or foot), and possession.

Golfers began with the fundamentals of putting, including participating in accuracy challenges. Then, they hit the range to work on iron shots, also participating in accuracy challenges.
