Rising Windsor Central High School senior Mason McCombs spent much of his summer solidifying his status as one of the top lacrosse players in the Empire State. He played in the All-America Lacrosse Tournament in Maryland for the Upstate New York team. He was one of 24 players on the squad. His team finished with a 4-2 record, losing in the semifinals to Philadelphia in the 12-team tournament.
“It was an intense experience and a lot of fun playing with the best in Upstate NY and against the best kids in my class in the country. It was good exposure to the kids I’ll be competing against the next four years,” said McCombs.
McCombs made the Upstate New York team after a tryout camp in Cortland on July 8th and 9th. He was a faceoff specialist for the squad, a role he’s looking to play in college. McCombs lists LeMoyne, St. John Fisher, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology as schools in which he has an interest. He plans on majoring in Civil Engineering.
McCombs is playing travel lacrosse during the summer and fall. He will also play football and wrestle for Windsor before school lacrosse season next spring.
