Windsor Strong Students finished camp Thursday by presenting the work they’ve done the past four weeks to their caregivers. The projects included their cardboard cities and green energy projects.
Some student groups designed a pollinator garden for the Palmer Colonial Garden, others built a black and gold perennial flower arrangement to put by the WCHS sign. When designing their cardboard cities, students considered water, culture, and geography. They also factored in what environmental factors influence how buildings are built and cities are created.
Knight Lights students enjoyed Water Day as they held their final day of camp. A medical support helicopter landed behind Palmer Elementary. Pilots gave students a tour of the helicopter, explained the equipment on the aircraft, and explained what it takes to become a medical pilot.
In addition to the helicopter, a fire truck, ambulance, and two police vehicles were also on-site as students celebrated Water Day.
Football, soccer, and golf camps concluded Thursday.
Football players held their punt, pass, and kick contest, ran a timed obstacle course, and played a seven-vs.-seven game. They also enjoyed time in the WCHS pool at the end of camp.
Soccer players ran agility drills, played six-vs.-six and four-vs.-four mini-games, and competed in three-vs.-two transitioning to two-vs.-one drills.
Golfers held another captain-and-crew tournament which helped them continue their learning of golf etiquette, course management, and club selection.
Next week’s sports camps are field hockey and bowling, the final sports camps of the summer program.
Windsor’s two-week summer Fine Arts Camp also begins on Monday.
