Shelby Goodwin got a taste of higher education before going to college.
“2nd-year college students have to present a research project. That’s what I did,” said Goodwin.

Goodwin, a Windsor Central High School senior and student in the New Visions Health Careers Academy, presented at the Our Body’s Systems Symposium. The event is a showcase to display what New Visions students learned throughout the year.

“I basically did an advanced science fair project on Celiac Disease,” said Goodwin.

Goodwin focused her work on the digestive system and researched Celiac Disease. She will attend SUNY Geneseo to study Biology to become a physical therapist or radiation therapist.

“It’s prepared me for college. When I talk to college students or professionals I’ve shadowed, they say, ‘I’ve never had this opportunity.’ I know I’ll know how to study properly and write technically a lot better,” said Goodwin.
