Winning Together

200 people enjoyed, “In Windsor, We Win Together” Thursday at Windsor Central High School.
The Windsor Community Schools department hosted the event, which showcased community resources in a convenient space for parents. Children enjoyed, free food, prizes, and more while all attendees could get free handcuts and manicures. Parents learned about the 20 community groups at the event.

These included the Broome County Health Department, United Way, CHOW, Broome County Office for Aging, Achieve, Broome-Tioga Workforce, Broome County District Attorney’s Office, Visions Federal Credit Union, and more.

“I hope people gain knowledge about resources, I hope they filled their bellies, and I hope they had fun. I’m excited that everyone can come to one place and see things they may not have known about that they need. I’m more excited this year because we have free haircuts and free manicures,” said Emily Friends, Community Schools Coordinator for the Windsor Central School District.

“I love it. This is awesome. You get to see all the resources in the community – and a free haircut. It saves me a trip to the barber. I’m getting tinsel in my hair next,” said Joleen Donnelly with a laugh as her son, Thomas, sat for a haircut.

“It provides a safe space for community connections,” said Friends.
