Windsor Teachers Begin Three Days of Professional Development

Windsor Central School District educators began three days of professional development on Wednesday as they prepare to welcome students back to school in September.
Teachers spent Wednesday learning more about NY Inspires, the state’s initiative to reform public education and graduation standards across the state by 2029, and its component, Portrait of a Graduate, which establishes a shared vision defining students as academically prepared, creative innovators, critical thinkers, effective communicators, global citizens, and reflective/future-focused individuals.

“It’s important for all our teachers, K-12, to engage in that work to get students ready for shifts in graduation requirements,” said Windsor CSD Director of Learning and Personnel Toby Youngs.

On Thursday, educators will learn about ThinkTech, a product that unifies teaching, curriculum, assessment, and insight on one platform. On Friday, teachers will focus on learning targets that help instruction.

“These three days give teachers opportunities to come back, get them in frame of mind of school, and get them excited to take on another school year. They come here this week ready to learn, excited, and looking forward to welcoming kids back in September. We value these three days the district gives us to prepare for the coming year,” said Youngs.
