Posted Date: 07/08/26 (02:51 PM)

The first week of the Windsor CSD 2026 summer program continued on Wednesday.

Knight Lights elementary camp rotated students through stations focusing on gross motor skills, fine arts, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), and literacy and numeracy.
A female officer in uniform presents information from a screen titled 'Job Duties' to a group of attentive children.Wednesday’s highlights included a visit from a pair of corrections officers from the Broome County Sheriff’s Office. The pair talked to students about their job duties. Some students took a nature walk to gather items for an arts and crafts project later this week.

Students also created Alka Seltzer rockets to experiment with variables. They learned how the size of the tablet and amount of water affected the performance.

Middle school students in the Windsor Strong Academy created musical instruments. Each camper needed to create two instruments to play during a parade later this month. As part of the camp’s medieval theme, they have already created flags and crests for kingdoms they’ve established. Later this week, they will use a 3D printer to create passports and passport stamps.

Windsor Strong also welcomed guest speaker Bob Jenson, a local musician and entrepreneur.

Basketball, cheer, and wrestling camps continued. 55 basketball campers focused on defense and rebounding while learning the camp’s word of the day, teamwork. 14 boys and girls varsity players are volunteering to help run the camp.

Cheer campers worked on creating posters, learning cheers and stunting.

Boys and girls wrestlers practiced single leg takedowns from neutral. Boys practiced a top arm bar tilt from top and a donkey standup from bottom. Girls worked on leg laces from top.
