Windsor CSD Summer Program Update - August 6

Posted Date: 8/06/25 (3:00 PM)

The Windsor CSD summer program’s two-week Fine Arts camp continued on Wednesday.
Artists continued work in their choice of six sessions: figure drawing, free drawing, kindness rock painting, a Jeff Koons-inspired mixed-media cityscape, bracelet making, and abstract painting.
The camp added a new station on Wednesday, scratch art. They used a mixture of dish soap and black paint to create an oil pastel on which students scratched art.

The musical ensembles are Advanced Band, Modern Band, 5th-Grade Band, Music Tech, Advanced Vocal, and a drum circle called Beat the Odds. Musicians in Modern Band began a lesson on the string guitar. Advanced band campers continued their work on the bass guitar.

Music Tech students learned about the Google Chrome Music Lab, where they experimented with sound and music. Advanced vocal students worked on their arrangement of the Jessie J song, Price Tag.

Theater campers progressed on their project for the week. One group of theater students continued to develop ideas for a product to feature in a commercial they will write and perform on Thursday. Another practiced for its improv performance on Thursday.

Campers in the Beat the Odds drum circle performed rhythmic drumming, improv drumming, and had call-and-response affirmations, and discussed how they felt about trying new things and making mistakes. They also learned about the history of the drum music they played.

Bowling and field hockey camps continued on Wednesday.

Bowlers played Connect 4, bowling edition. Experienced bowlers would earn a spot by bowling a strike or spare, and would try to connect four spots in a row. Inexperienced bowlers would try to do the same, earning a spot by knocking down eight pins over two shots.

Field hockey players focused on moving with the ball. They practiced hitting, receiving, and dribbling, and competed in two-vs.-three drills. They also split into teams for Thursday’s “Olympic” tournament.
