Windsor CSD Summer Program Update - July 29

Posted Date: 7/29/25 (3:00 PM)

Windsor Strong Academy newsrooms were buzzing on Tuesday.

WSA students continued to produce elements for the newscast they will present on Thursday. Campers went out into the field to gather videos and interviews and practiced their on-air presentations.
Knight Lights campers enjoyed a range of activities. Kindergarten students took a trip to Windsor Central High School to swim and tour the 6.7-acre WCHS Land Lab. Other students enjoyed STEM activities, including engaging in origami geometry by making paper cubes. Tuesday was tie-dye day as students wore the tie-dye socks they made earlier in camp.

Additionally, Broome County Emergency Dispatcher Jess Peake presented to students about the importance of 9-1-1 and how the service is specifically designed for emergencies.

Golf, football, and soccer camps continued on Tuesday.

Golfers worked on the mechanics of hitting drivers, including grip and swing. They also practiced chipping, reading the greens, and reading putts. Golfers held chipping and putting contests and reviewed the game’s rules of etiquette.

Football players watched a video from USA Football about the organization’s Heads Up Tackling techniques and spent the rest of camp practicing those skills.

Soccer camp’s theme of the day was “Take your shot”. Players practiced shooting techniques, accuracy, and placement. They also practiced shooting while still and on the run.
