Windsor CSD Summer Program Update - July 24

Posted Date: 7/24/25 (3:35 PM)

A delicious week at Windsor Strong Academy came to an end on Thursday with a cooking competition.
This week’s theme at Windsor Strong Academy was "From Garden to Greatness." Students prepared a meal that included a salad, entrée, and dessert. Students presented their meals and table settings for judging on Thursday.

The Windsor FFA (Future Farmers of America) chapter donated chickens, vegetables, and herbs from the district’s Land Lab for the students to use, and flowers for the floral arrangements that accompanied the meals.
Congratulations to members of the Blue Team and their winning menu of penne ala vodka with chicken, chicken salad, zucchini noodles with parmesan garlic, green beans, and chocolate-covered strawberries with banana pudding filler for dessert.
Some Knight Lights campers made Bristle Bots, simple, vibrating robots made from readily available materials like toothbrush heads and small vibrating motors. Others went outdoors on a nature scavenger hunt.

A representative from the Raymond Corporation challenged campers’ imaginations by giving them a bag of materials for them to make a prototype for a new lift truck.

Baseball, softball, and lacrosse camps concluded on Thursday.

Baseball and softball players combined to form seven co-ed Wiffle Ball teams. They rotated between playing against each other in three games, with the seventh team enjoying time on the Slip N Slide.

Lacrosse campers kept working on the skills they gained this week. They cycled through cradling,
shooting, passing, and ground ball stations. They finished camp with a water balloon relay race and a trip to the Windsor Central High School pool.

Next week’s sports camps will be golf, football, and soccer.
