The Windsor Central School District is requesting volunteers to consult on a Board policy on students and personal electronic devices. This group will meet at the Windsor Central High School cafeteria on Wednesday, July 30, from 6pm to 8pm.The State’s new Distraction-Free Schools law signed by Governor Hochul this year requires bell-to-bell smartphone restrictions in K-12 school districts statewide, starting this fall for the 2025-2026 school year. The law requires each school district:
- To adopt a policy prohibiting the use of internet-enabled devices (ex., smartphones) by students during the school day
- Provide method(s) for parents to contact their students during the school day
- Provide method(s) for students to store their device
- Consult local stakeholders in the development of the policy before its adoption
