Windsor CSD Summer Program July 15 Recap

Posted Date: 7/15/25 (7:27 PM)

A Windsor graduate in the second week of her job returned to her alma mater on Tuesday, a visit that highlighted the second week of the 2025 Windsor CSD Summer Program.

Sofia Peret, a 2021 WCHS graduate, joined her BAE co-worker, Theresa Larson, to speak to Windsor Strong Academy students about her job and favorite projects. The two professionals also gave input to students on their cardboard boat build. WSA will hold a cardboard boat regatta at the WCHS pool on Thursday.
Students at Knight Lights, Windsor CSD’s elementary recreation camp, enjoyed a range of activities. Four groups of students traveled to the high school to get a tour of the Windsor CSD Land Lab, hear from agriculture teacher Mikayla Anderson about the WCHS ag program, play kickball, and swim.
First- and second-grade students learned about the basics of installing drywall. Ian Williams from Carpenters Union Local 277 allowed the students to practice drilling screws into drywall.

Students also had their choice of STEM stations, including building catapults, playing with blocks, Play-Doh, and Keva structures.

Tennis, track, swim and dive, and volleyball camps continued on Monday

Tennis campers stretched, ran relay races, learned how to score the sport, and split into groups to practice strokes.

Track athletes worked on short sprints, including the 55-meter and 100-meter dashes.

Swimmers practiced the fundamentals of freestyle, and some had timed 25-yard swims. Divers worked on approaches on the board, practiced front dives, and learned the positions of tuck, pike, and straight.

Volleyball players split into three groups: those in grades 4-5, 6-7, and 8-9. All groups worked on passing, diving, and positional movement.
