Summer Program Rundown: August 2
Summer camp summary – August 2nd

Knight Lights:
Robotics week is ready to reach its conclusion tomorrow. Today older campers continued working with Lego NXT robots and building their robotic arms for tomorrow’s challenge. Some of the youngest campers built their toothbrush robots. These are comprised of a toothbrush head, battery and motor. Campers are fencing in a “beach” and letting the robots loose to clean oil from the shore.

The robotics theme even spilled over into the art classes. Campers there created works by painting with gears.

Soccer camp:

Thunderstorms drove the campers inside in the middle of game play. The athletes finished today’s camp in the high school pool.

Before the rains came the campers worked on a number of drills that focused on communication, passing, shooting, one-touch and two-touch possession. Tomorrow tournament play will continue with the winning team earning a cup as camp champions.

Cheer camp:
Today was Wacky Wednesday. Some campers and coaches dressed in ribbons, bows and tutus to create some crazy looks.

Campers also worked on drills which focused on dance, jumping and tumbling. They also had a practice run through of Thursday’s cheer showcase that will take place at the Palmer Elementary School gym at 11:10am. You can read more about that event here.
