Pre-K through 2nd Graders Honored at Palmer

A.F. Palmer Elementary School honored its youngest students who have stood out this school year for a range of skills, from citizenship to art at its annual Awards Assembly.

The school recognized each student who has had perfect attendance this school year. Two students from each class, as chosen by their teacher, also won a Citizenship Award.

“We work all year on character traits. The Citizenship Award really embodies our year-long effort,” said Palmer Elementary principal Jamie Bernard.

Bernard says a mantra for the school is GLOW: give respect, lead by example, own your actions, wise choices.

"I always have the challenge that you should be able to stop a Palmer student and ask what GLOW means," said Bernard.

“I try to be kind and help out others. I try to cheer someone up if they’re having a bad day,” said 2nd grader Claire Beattie who won a Citizenship Award.

This assembly recognized students from pre-K through second grade. A subsequent assembly will honor students in grades 3-5. Students from pre-K through second were also honored for their work in art, music, physical education and library.
