Field Days & Flag Day at Palmer Elementary
Patriotism and plenty of physical activity were on display at A.F. Palmer Elementary for the school’s Flag Day Field Days.
Students spent half their day working on Flag Day-related projects in the classroom and the other half taking part in the 22 outdoor activities as part of Field Days. Those activities included face painting, baseball, an inflatable castle and an obstacle course.
The patriotic colors many students wore matched the red sno-cones, white racing sacks and blue skies outdoors.
“It’s fun. Very fun. Basketball is my favorite,” said 2nd grader Brandon Bosket.
“Face painting is my favorite because you get to dress up like an animal,” said 1st grader Charlie Carr with a freshly-painted dog face.
“Field Days is wonderful. It’s great for the kids. They get to move around, enjoy the weather and learn about the significance of Flag Day,” said physical education teacher Mike Potenza.
“They work hard all year long, they deserve a day just to have fun,” said school counselor Sandra Romano.
The school has traditionally scheduled its Field Days for Flag Day. National Junior Honor Society students from the Middle School help run some of the activities for Field Days.
