Palmer Honors Veterans
Students and staff at Palmer Elementary honored those who served with a Veterans Day breakfast and assembly Friday.

The assembly featured each grade level performing a song to represent a branch of the Military. Students also read a brief history of each branch.

“I thought it was awesome. We don’t get honored much any more and it’s a real treat for the day,” said William Dixon, who served in both the Army and Navy. His granddaughter Ryleigh Pinney is a 2nd grader at Palmer.

“I went to school here, and it’s nice coming back and having the kids do this,” said Marine veteran Chris Brooks, whose son, Chris Jr., is in kindergarten at Palmer.

The veterans received a flower and certificate recognizing their service at the end of the assembly.

“It’s a great opportunity for us and our kids to honor our veterans. It’s good to educate students on the different branches, and it’s important for them to not forget their service,” said Palmer Elementary principal Toby Youngs.

“It’s nice that the younger generation has respect for the Armed Forces,” said Dixon.
