Windsor Central High School hosted a Food Bank of the Southern Tier food distribution event Wednesday. It is the third time the school has hosted the food giveaway. As was the case when WCHS hosted similar events in April and May, staff and administrators from the Windsor Central School District handed out food to almost 500 families.
“We are once again honored to host this event. Recent events have made the need for food greater in our community, and we’re happy to do what we can to help meet that need,” said Dr. Jason Andrews, Superintendent of the Windsor Central School District.
Families that drove through the distribution event received frozen foods such as beef, fish, berries and eggs, as well as milk, yogurt, potatoes, produce, and other staples.
In addition to hosting the three Food Bank of the Southern Tier Distribution events, the District has also provided over 130,000 free breakfasts and lunches since the COVID-19 pandemic forced Windsor schools to transition to remote learning in March.
Free grab-and-go breakfast and lunch continues to be available to all those 18 years old and younger Tuesday and Thursday from 10am-12pm at Weeks Elementary and Palmer Elementary schools. You can find additional food resources and other supports at
