WCHS Names Valedictorian, Salutatorian
Windsor Central High School has named its valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2020. Eric Lin is valedictorian while Samantha Sova is salutatorian.

“I am absolutely delighted to be the valedictorian because it is definitely a competitive class. Of course, I am grateful to all of my teachers, who are willing to spend extra time answering my questions and clearing my misconceptions. Without their support, I would have never earned my current achievement. In addition, I believe that my classmates also contribute to this result; because of their excellence, I became competitive in order to catch up to them,” said Lin.

Lin will attend Binghamton University in the fall, majoring in electrical engineering.

“I hope to gain internship experiences and accumulate professional knowledge. Ultimately, I want to become a professional engineer, someone who is able to create products to better serve the community,” said Lin.

Sova will also attend Binghamton University to major in mechanical engineering with a focus in assistive technology. She ultimately wants to aid the physically disabled community and provide members of that community the technology and equipment that they need to help accomplish their daily tasks effectively.

“I'm just honored to be a part of such a well-run institution as Windsor. I feel that a lot of kids that attend Windsor don't understand how truly lucky they are to be in the very capable hands of our administration and teachers. I have never experienced anything other than support from my peers, teachers, and family, and I couldn't have done this without any of them,” said Sova.

Lin and Sova are part of a class that is finishing its high school career remotely under unprecedented circumstances.

“I am grateful to have gotten to complete 3 1/2 years in Windsor's High School and I was sorry to see my last days of senior year taken away. I have been in the Windsor school system since kindergarten and the feeling of a true community never faded, not even for a day,” said Sova. “I can't wait to see what the future holds for me, my peers, and Windsor as a whole.”
