Weeks Hosts Anti-Bullying Walk
Students walking around the gym at Weeks Elementary Monday morning weren’t taking part in PE class but, instead, celebrating the ideas of kindness and acceptance.

The school held an OLWEUS anti-bullying walk with all students from UPK through 5th grade taking part. Students held up signs reading, “Be kind” and “Bullying Stops Here” as they walked.

“This was a school-wide assembly to reinforce positive behaviors and kindness,” said Weeks Elementary School Counselor Liz Sharkan.

Some 4th & 5th grade students took part in a skit based on the book, One. That book is a story about the color Red who picks on the color Blue. Other colors fail to speak out until One comes along to show them how they can all stand up and stand together.

Monday’s assembly comes weeks after the school held a Mix-it-Up lunch, grouping students with those they otherwise wouldn’t socialize with during lunch. You can read more about that event here
