Varsity Mentors
Varsity track and field athletes Gabe Soundararaj and Kaitlyn Jones visited Bell Elementary’s physical education class to help the youngest Black Knight athletes learn the sport.
Soundararaj helped many students reach their personal record. Jones, who will study elementary education at SUNY Oneonta in the fall, displayed her teaching skills in Mr. Karlson’s class.

“The interactions with each student seemed so natural in the Elementary setting for her.  She took the time with each student to satisfy their questions, and watch them perform their skill sets,” said Mr. Karlson.

“The time at Bell today, has 100% affirmed my choice to pursue a degree in Elementary Education,” said Jones.

This latest visit is an example of how having varsity athletes share the knowledge of their sport with elementary students benefits both sets of Black Knights.

“Bell Elementary is truly privileged with the opportunities that have been created through this program. I’d like to send a very special thank you to Jeff Nolan for taking the time in the delivering of Gabe and Kaitlyn to us,” said Mr. Karlson.
