Summer camp summary August 7:

Knight Lights:

A visit from goats helped kick off animal science week. You can read more about the visit and the lessons the campers learned here.

Fine Arts Camp:

A busy two weeks kicked off with campers rotating between a number of fine arts classes: art, improv, music tech and band.

Art classes featured mini studios which incorporated technology to allow students to be self-guided. Beginner, intermediate and advanced campers were able to work in three media: painting, drawing and clay/sculpture. Many students used videos to help them through the creation of their works.

“This gives them the chance to either try something new or grow and continue in something they already like,” said teacher Nikole Cappello.

Improv class featured the basics today with introductory and meet-and-greet exercises. Over the next two weeks campers will work on developing characters and giving them a voice.

“Ultimately we want them to focus on listening and teamwork to accomplish a goal,” said teacher Brendan Curtin. “Let’s get out of our own head and know that people are rooting for us. I want them to create something outside of themselves.”

Athletic camps:

Weather forced baseball, softball and lacrosse camps inside to the Middle School gym.

Baseball campers focused on fielding and hitting drills, such as tee work and soft toss. Softball focused on throwing and fielding ground balls. Lacrosse worked on one-on-one moves and passing.

All athletic camps should be back on the high school fields, weather permitting.
