Veterans Day Assembly at Bell

Bell Elementary students and families honored those who have served the country Tuesday afternoon at the school’s annual Veterans Day assembly.

First through fifth graders sang the anthem of each branch of the Military. Representatives from VFW Post 478 demonstrated a flag folding ceremony, explaining the meaning behind each folding of the flag.

“I want our students to understand the ceremony. When they see it in the future, they have that memory and know what it means,” said Bell Elementary principal Lorraine Hulbert.

“I think they’re getting a good education from this. It’s great that they are recognizing parents and grandparents who have served,” said Stacey Rodzinka, who is on active duty in the United States Air Force. Her daughter, Aubrey, is a first grader at Bell.

“Our students should have a sense of pride and appreciation for the men and women who have given their time and, in some cases, their lives, to defend the country,” said Mrs. Hulbert.
