Fill the Bus Campaign Yields Sizable Donation

Staff and students from all Windsor CSD schools came together to help fight local hunger by contributing to the annual Fill the Bus campaign.

Windsor Human Development and the Windsor CSD Transportation Department travelled to the five Black Knight schools to collect non-perishable food donations.

“This will have a huge impact,” said Larry Sanford, Executive Director of Windsor Human Development. “Whatever food is donated is food we don’t have to purchase. It will be used immediately.”

Sanford will weigh the food next week, but estimates the Fill the Bus campaign netted at least 2,000 pounds of food.

Sanford says some of the food collected today will fill holiday baskets, as his agency will prepare baskets for over 100 families for Thanksgiving and anticipates the same for Christmas. He says he will start taking Christmas basket orders in the next couple of weeks.
