The San Francisco Bay Brand Inc. gifted 20 Brine Shrimp hatching kits to Mrs. Kocak's class. Student Christian Varelakis wrote a letter to the company and they responded not only with a letter back, but gifts for the class as well.

 

 

Students in Mrs. Kocak's class has been writing letters to companies and individuals for several years now as a part of their science fair projects. Each student chooses a person or company to write to about their science fair findings and often the companies write back. 

 

"The students were extremely excited to receive such a generous response this time and shared with other teachers and classmates," said Mrs. Kocak.

Christian did an experiment on different salinity levels and the hatching rate of the brine shrimp. He, along with 18 other students, will present their projects at the Southern Tier Scholastic Science Fair March 21. Christian plans on bringing some kits to show the judges and his fellow participants.
