Cart Art

Sometimes a new ride needs a new look.

The Windsor athletic department, thanks to the track and football booster clubs, recently purchased a used golf cart to help with various transportation needs for different events. But the cart’s blue paint job isn’t exactly on-brand for the Windsor Central School District.

Enter high school senior Nate Hull, who splits his school days between Windsor and working at the automotive shop at BOCES. His new project is to Windsor-ize the golf cart.

“I’ll work on the exterior, the paint. We’ll do black with some gold details,” said Hull.

And a logo if he’s feeling ambitious?

“Maybe,” said Hull.

The cart will come back to Windsor looking brand new. But, it might not stay looking that way for long.

“We’re going to use it for quite a lot of events: athletics, Homecoming, graduation,” said Windsor track and football coach Tim Hogan.

The golf cart isn’t Hull’s only project at BOCES. He is also working on his own car, a 1979 Buick.

“I started with BOCES last year, but I’ve always had a knack,” said Hull of his autobody work.

He also has a 1966 Thunderbird, 1967 Ford F-250 truck, and 1972 MGB, a British sports car, that he works on at his home.  But, he sees his autobody work as a hobby, not a career. He plans to go to college in September, possibly to Binghamton University or the University at Albany.

Before he leaves, though, he’ll leave a lasting gift at Windsor.
