Students and their families explored job opportunities at the “Your Future Pathway to Success” career fair at Windsor Central High School Thursday night. 

The event, sponsored by the Greater Binghamton Education Outreach Program (GBEOP) and The Raymond Corporation, featured over 30 local businesses and hundreds of full-time, part-time, and seasonal job opportunities.

 

 

“For students, it’s about making connections to local businesses and some have part-time employment available. For parents, it’s good to learn about what is available for their kids, but if they need a job, most companies here are hiring full-time as well,” said Danielle Britton, Talent and Education Director for GBEOP.

Students had an eye on the short term and long term.

“I’m trying to see what’s open now but eventually I want to be a physical therapist,” said WCHS junior Cody Lewis.

“Right now I just want to find something to fill time, but I’m also looking for something down the road as a career,” said WCHS junior Allison Van Barriger, who is interested in a career in art. 

Some employers have a range of opportunities available to students.

 

“We need to make students aware that there are great jobs in the area. We have entry-level, technical, and professional openings,” said John Sassani, Human Resources Manager at The Raymond Corporation. “Raymond is a company you can join and have a whole career.”

WCHS junior Aidan Kapuschinsky, who is interested in an engineering career, visited both the Delta Engineering and The Raymond Corporation tables.

“I can learn about job shadowing and understand what they’re looking for in an employee,” said Kapuschinsky.

“This is a good opportunity to make those connections with local businesses and possibly get employment,” said Windsor CSD Career Counselor Heather Noyd.
