Three-mendous

Only 500 students in the country won the National Junior Honor Society Outstanding Achievement Award this school year. Three of them attend Windsor Central Middle School: Sidney Crisanti, Kenadie Dunlap, and Shelby Goodwin.

“When I found out that I won, I was surprised and super excited. I am so grateful for all of the opportunities the Windsor school district has given me that helped make winning this award possible,” said Shelby.

“This is big,” said National Junior Honor Society advisor Cole Battaglini. “The application process is 90% student driven and this is a splendid testament to the prowess of these three young ladies. I can think of few other experiences that have made me prouder as a teacher.”

The NJHS is founded on 5 pillars: scholarship, character, leadership, service, and citizenship. In addition to maintaining high levels of academic performance, students must provide evidence of exceptional achievement in the other four pillars as well, in the form of community service, school extracurriculars, volunteerism, and leadership positions.

“I am grateful that I am receiving this award. This is such an honor and I am thrilled to be representing the Windsor Central School District,” said Kenadie.

“It is a great honor to accept this award and I’m grateful to be one of the few that do receive it,” said Sidney.

Students at Windsor Central Middle School have won the award in the past, but this year is the first time three students from the school have earned the honor. The award winners will each receive $500, to be placed in a college savings account program.
