The Windsor CSD summer program came to an end with the final
day of Fine Arts camp on Thursday.
Campers finished their bowls made from newspaper, painted
light-switch covers, and painting of fireflies escaping from a glass jar.
The Black Knight (advanced) and Gold Knight (intermediate)
bands finished their work, as did students who studied drums, and the music
composition tool, Launch Pad.
In chorus, instructor Bobby Morano gave students latitude to
pick the songs they wanted to work on. However, he also tried something new. He
had students sing solos and then get feedback from other students.
“It’s like something you’d do in a college studio class,” said Morano.
He was impressed with the level of analysis students were
able to give to their peers.
“It was amazing. I said to myself, ‘This is definitely something I need to do more of,’” said Morano.
The Windsor summer program featured Knight Lights, an
enrichment camp for elementary students, and Windsor Strong Academy, a camp for
middle school students that focused on strengthening the community and making
students future-ready.
Students could also choose to attend a 4H camp, or any of 13
athletics camps. Whatever the choice, the goal was to have students learn, be
active, and have fun.
“They had a blast. These are the best kids in the world,” said music teacher Christine Krieger.
