Class Gift

The Windsor Central School District welcomed its newest staff members with a novel gift from some of its students.

6th graders in the Technology class worked with Mr. Dewey and Mrs. Cappello to design and manufacture Windsor-themed stickers to put on tumblers, which the district gave to its newest members.
“We thought of ways we could make the Windsor logo look good on the cups we’re giving to the new Windsor teachers,” said 6th grader Greyson Lake.

“We found a picture of Windsor to put on the cups to give gifts to the teachers and we came up with the design,” said 6th grader Alex Young.
Students used a Cricut machine to print the stickers used on the tumblers.

I’ve learned how to use the Criket and take out the vinyl pieces and the Windsor logo we printed. I feel like I’ve learned how to be more collaborative and artistic,” said 6th grader Norah Rauscher.

“I’ve learned how to design things. There are two different kinds of stickers, vinyl and print. The print sticker is more durable but the vinyl can do colors more easily,” said 6th grader Graham Klumpp. “I think it will help the new teachers ease into the school more, instead of just jumping right into a job.”

Many of the students kept the new teachers in mind when working on the project.

“It feels great. I like how I get to do work and give someone something,” said 6th grader Rocco Parmelee.
“It helps you feel good that we got to design the new cups for the teachers,” said 6th grader Chelsea Stoeckel. “We learned how to get a real handle on using the Criket on our own.”

“A good part of the project is giving back to their school and apply what they learned on the Cricut machine to give back. A project like this shows the meaning of what it can actually do,” said Mr. Dewey.
