Summer Program Recap - July 26

Swim, track and field, and tennis athletic camps began Monday as The Windsor CSD 2021 summer program entered its third week.
Each swimmer performed a swim test, and then worked on freestyle and kicking techniques.
“We’re working on basic freestyle skills (Monday). But, we’re going to focus on the four competitive strokes this week: freestyle, butterfly, backstroke, and breaststroke,” said swim coach Justin Maye.

Tennis players began with the basics as well. They participated in drills that helped them learn how to control the racket and hit underneath the ball.

Track athletes ran a 55-meter race with block starts, performed a long jump, and learned the shot put, using a softball as a shot.

Elementary campers continued to rotate between free play, arts and crafts, and free play. All elementary campers will enjoy a virtual pirate adventure with Captain Tamara on Wednesday.
Windsor Strong Academy students focused on life skills on Monday. These included lessons on budgeting, hygiene, and culinary skills. Students also competed in an egg drop. They made a protective vessel for an egg out of a certain number of materials. Then, counselors dropped the eggs from the top of the staircase leading to the press box at Windsor Central High School’s multi-purpose athletic field.

One highlight of the Windsor Strong Academy this week will be a virtual Day with Professionals on Wednesday. Students will hear from people in the following fields to hear about their career path: welding, agriculture, education, photography, health care, and business.
