After Positive Case, High School Fully Remote Until Oct. 26

Dear Windsor School Community,

On Thursday, October 15, 2020, we were notified by the Broome County Health Department (BCHD) that the district has a confirmed case of COVID-19 involving a student at Windsor Central High School. Information regarding this individual’s identity cannot be released.  We ask that you please respect this student’s privacy. This person will be placed in isolation for the mandated number of days.

In discussions with the BCHD, if there was any person in direct or proximate contact with this individual, they will be placed in quarantine. The district is assisting the Broome County Health Department with a contact tracing investigation.

Due to the number of quarantined staff members necessitated by the positive cases at WCHS, the school will go to fully-remote learning from Friday, October 16th through Friday, October 23rd. The earliest anticipated return to in-person learning at WCHS is Monday, October 26th. This fully-remote period applies only to Windsor Central High School.

We will continue to monitor this situation and will notify staff and families immediately of any interruptions to the school schedule. We appreciate your patience and cooperation, as we know this is a serious matter of great concern to many of you.  Please contact my office if you have any questions at 607-655-8216 or via email at [email protected]

Sincerely,

Jason A. Andrews, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
