NYS Designates Bell Elementary as Recognition School

The New York State Education Department has designated Bell Elementary as a Recognition School. The distinction is for the school’s high academic achievement, growth and graduation rate, and progress during the 2018-19 school year.

The recognition comes under the state’s Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) plan. According to the state, ESSA plans include strategies for supporting the professional growth of educators and ensuring that all students, including Multilingual learners/English language learners, immigrant students, migratory youth, students with disabilities, homeless youth, and neglected and delinquent youth, have access to a well-rounded, culturally responsive and sustaining education that supports students’ academic and social-emotional development.

“I am pleased that the state has recognized the success of our students and staff at Bell Elementary. I’m sure this award will inspire everyone at Bell to continue to strive for higher levels of learning and achievement,” said Dr. Jason Andrews, Superintendent of the Windsor Central School District.

“We are so incredibly proud of this exciting accomplishment which was the result of the collaboration between our school and district’s incredibly hard working, forward thinking and dedicated faculty and staff.  We are excited to continue this work and look forward to watching the continued success of our students,” said Bell Elementary principal Lorrie Hulbert.
