May 17 COVID Update

Dear Windsor School Community,

On Monday, May 17, 2021, we were notified by the Broome County Health Department (BCHD) that the district has one confirmed case of COVID-19 involving a student at Windsor Central Middle School. Information regarding this individual’s identity cannot be released. We ask that you please respect their privacy. This student will be placed in isolation for the mandated number of days.

If there was a person in direct or proximate contact inside of the school or off the school campus, they will be placed in quarantine. The district is assisting the Broome County Health Department with a contact-tracing investigation.

The Broome County Health Department has not seen spread of COVID-19 within school buildings due to preventative measures in place. It is important for school districts to continue screening processes and following New York State guidelines, including mask wearing and distancing.

We will continue to monitor this situation and will notify staff and families immediately of any interruptions to the school schedule. We appreciate your patience and cooperation, as we know this is a serious matter of great concern to many of you. Please contact my office if you have any questions at 607-655-8216 or via email at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Jason A. Andrews, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
