McCombs 1st-Team All-State LB

Windsor Central High School junior football player Mason McCombs earned 1st-Team All-State honors as a linebacker this fall. This follows a 3rd-Team All-State selection as a sophomore.

“It’s definitely a big accomplishment. I’ve been looking for that all year. It feels awesome. I’ll try to get it again next year without a doubt,” said McCombs.
While McCombs earned this accolade for defense, he also rushed for over 1,000 yards and 16 touchdowns on offense.

“The biggest thing with him is he’s a team leader. Everyone looks up to him. No one is going to outwork him and we’re lucky to have him on both sides of ball,” said WCHS football coach Tim Hogan.

It’s those traits that have McCombs looking to getting even better next season.

“He won’t stop. He’s a sponge. Mr. Doolittle coaches our linebackers and he always tells me Mason gets better every day. Mason is the first to tell you there’s always room for improvement,” said Hogan.

“I’m definitely trying to beat what I did last year, always improving,” said McCombs.

McCombs has been a varsity starter since freshman season.
