Windsor Seniors Nab Honors at B-T BOCES

Windsor Central High School seniors Elizabeth Beagell and Nicholas Price earned recognition at the 26th annual Partnership for Excellence event at Broome-Tioga BOCES, highlighting the work at the school-to-Careers (STC) Partnership of Broome and Tioga counties.

Price was one of nineteen students from local high schools honored for their achievements in career-related programs, good citizenship, community service and career planning. He is a student in the B-T BOCES auto technician program.
“I’ve always been interested in (cars). It’s more in depth than I thought. It’s a lot of work but it sounds like I’m going to enjoy it,” said Price, who is looking for an opportunity in the automotive field after graduation.

Beagell, the WCHS Class of 2023 valedictorian, is one of four local seniors who won a $500 BAE Systems STEM Advancement scholarship for committing to attend a collegiate level STEM degree program. Selection is also based on academic performance, leadership potential and community service. Beagell will attend LeMoyne College and plans to major in Biology/Physician’s Assistant Studies.

“It’s awesome. It definitely helps a lot to pay for college and definitely contributes to my academic success that I’ve worked hard for,” said Beagell.

Beagell came upon her career path after breaking her leg in October 2017.

“When I broke my leg, I was in and out of hospitals. I knew I wanted to be in medical field but didn’t know what exactly I wanted to do. I met with a physician’s assistant and loved what they did,” said Beagell.
