WCHS Celebrates 1st Quarter Successes

Windsor Central High School celebrated its successes from the first quarter on Thursday morning.
At a school-wide assembly, WCHS principal Toby Youngs recognized the Section IV champion Windsor field hockey and volleyball teams and revealed that nine of Windsor’s 10 fall sports teams earned recognition as a Scholar-Athlete Team, thanks to having a team GPA of 3.6 or higher.

He also highlighted the school’s improving attendance numbers. In the first quarter of 2021, students missed 41,626 courses. In the first quarter of 2024, that number improved to 13,868. 34 percent of WCHS students had perfect attendance in the first quarter of 2024.

As a reward, the school partnered with High School Nation and Dunkin’ to give each WCHS student, teacher, and staff member a $5 Dunkin’ gift card. Special guest Santa Claus distributed the cards.

The school also recognized a group of honorable Black Knights for exemplary behavior: Gryffin Christ, Faith Putney, Anakin Quinn, Gabe Soundararaj, Jared Wilbur, and Hannah Wright.
