Family Involvement Survey
The Windsor Central School District is working with the New York State Education Department (NYSED) to collect information on how we help parents of students with disabilities to be involved in their children’s education. Parents from school districts throughout the State are completing the same survey. NYSED is working with the Potsdam Institute for Applied Research (PIAR) at SUNY Potsdam, an independent research firm, to collect the information.
Answers to the survey are very important to us. They will help us identify how well we work with parents in order to improve services and results for all our students with disabilities. No one from our school district will see how the questions are answered. PIAR will compile the results of the surveys from all our parents and the results will be available to you in a public report issued by NYSED for our school district.
To complete the questionnaire on the Internet, go to http://parentsurvey.potsdam.edu or you may fill out the paper survey and mail it to PIAR in the postage-paid envelope. Paper surveys will be mailed home in October. Please take the time to complete the survey as soon as you receive it.
Thank you for your assistance. If you have any questions, you may call the Special Programs Office at 655-8220. |

Odyssey of the Mind
Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem solving opportunities for students. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They bring their solutions to competition on the local, State and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and 25 other countries participate in the program. It has been a wonderful opportunity for Windsor students and for the last two years we have had teams compete at the State and World level. Last year one of our teams from Bell Elementary school won the Renatra Fusca Creativity Award, which represents the essence of the Odyssey of the Mind. This award is presented to teams or individuals who exhibit exceptional creativity, either through some aspect of their problem solution, or an extraordinary idea beyond the problem solution. This is high honor award that is rarely given out. Windsor has become "World Famous" through Odyssey of the Mind and we plan on continuing that path of excellence by setting a yearly goal of at least "One to Worlds". This year’s OM coaches are: Mark Wentka (High School), Sue Behn (Middle School), Terry Merrill (Middle School), Eileen Mulcahy (Weeks), Marissa Cuervo (Weeks), Karen Bixby (Weeks), Denise Lang (Palmer), Ashley Sczesny (Palmer), Nikki Cappello (Palmer), Jodi VanGaasbeck (Bell), and Dan DiGennaro (Bell).
