4-H Students Visit BC Fair
The 4-H Tech Wizards youth traveled to the Broome County fair for their third field trip of the summer. Youth had hands-on experiences with the 4-H animals, as well as tours of the 4-H youth building exhibits. They also took part in  animal science project and rocketry experiments.

Youth learned about embryology, chickens (layers and meat), goats, rabbits, horses, pigs, sheep, and cows. They were able to hold baby chickens and learn about their development. Teen Leaders took them to the various animal areas of the fair and had other 4-H Members teach them about their project animals.

As 4-H is not just about animals and farming, the youth were able to explore the other exhibits on display in the youth building and try some hands-on activities with rocketry. They created balloon rockets, alka-seltzer rockets and experimented with Diet Coke and Mentos.

The first two field trips the Tech Wizards took were to Cornell University where they saw a particle accelerator and fistulated cow, and the Nyala Alpaca Farm in Vestal.
