High School Students Attend Teen Traffic Safety Day

On Thursday, October 15, high school students attended Teen Traffic Safety Day at the Veterans Memorial Arena. The event aims to the open teens eyes about the dangers of distracted driving and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. 

The day consisted of a battle of the belts competition where teams of four race to see who can buckle up the fastest along with safety belt demonstrations by the NYS police and distracted driving exercises. The students also had the opportunity to participate in a impaired driving simulation where they discover how drugs and alcohol can affect your ability to preform simple tasks. Speaker Jonathon shared his story  about being hit by a drunk driver and UHS presented about what happens after the crash and the process of medical care that takes place after a drunk driving accident.
