Summer Program Rundown: August 1

Summer program summary August 1st:

Knight Lights:
Robotics week continued. Older campers advanced in their ability to program a Lego NXT robot, having the machines travel across a straight line, stop, turn and make the trip back. These campers are building a robotic arm that will have to perform a special task on Thursday.

Younger campers are working with ozobots, small, spherical robots who recognize lines and colors. Children are using those lines and colors to program the ozobot to direct it where to go. For more on robotics week you can click here.

Cheer Camp:
Today was team color day with campers separated into three teams: blue, yellow and pink. Campers worked on tumbling skills, stunting skills and jumps. They are practicing three eight-counts of a dance that they will perform at a showcase on Thursday. For more on Thursday’s performance click here.

Also, coaches have their eyes open for award winners who will be announced Thursday. Awards include Best Teamwork, Most Smiley and Best Listener.

Soccer Camp:
Campers continued to split their day into drills, then games. There was a water break in the shade between the skills and game sessions. This week has featured warm and humid weather.

Drills focused on communication, possession, dribbling, shooting and agility. There was also a focus on first touches. Today’s camp ended with a half-hour swim in the high school pool, an event scheduled for the final two days of camp as well.
