Helping the Homeless

It’s rare for people to accomplish their dream in life. Rarer still is doing it by the time they are 8 years old.

“It’s been my dream to help the homeless since I was six or seven,” said C.R. Weeks 3rd grader Brooke Safranek. “It just popped into my head out of nowhere.”

Her dream has become a reality. Safranek’s mother Stephanie along with family and friends have created 36 care packages for the Southern Tier Homeless Coalition. Each back contains and homemade blanket and toiletries.

“We put in conditioner, hand sanitizer and all that stuff,” said Brooke.

WBNG highlighted Brooke’s project. You can watch here. You can also learn more about the Southern Tier Homeless Coalition here. Brooke says she will continue to do this project each year.

“I’m very happy and it will make everybody happy. People who don’t have things they need will get them from me,” said Brooke.
