8th Graders Take Tour of Binghamton University

If a little planning can go a long way a group of 8th-grade students from Windsor Middle School should go far in college.

The group recently visited Binghamton University, learning first-hand that now is the time to start preparing for college by making sure their study habits and time-management skills are strong. BU students gave a tour of campus, talked about what opportunities there are to be involved on campus, and what drew them to BU.

“I liked hearing from the students,” said 8th grader Ella Peterson.

The college students also told the 8th graders that, although academics are challenging, in college you are primarily studying what interests you most, so it's actually not as hard as you would think.  The Windsor students seemed impressed by the campus as well as the advice.

“There are a lot of things to do. It’s basically a little town,” said 8th grader Mya Casey.

“It’s not what I expected. There’s a lot more to do,” said 8th grader Darby Morgan.

And, of course, college students have to eat.

“The dining hall is cool,” said 8th grader Haylee Colavito.

The BU students also touched on the various ways to offset the costs of college as well.
