District Updates its Mission, Vision and Core Beliefs

The Windsor Central School District has updated its mission, vision and core beliefs after a diverse group of 26 stakeholders spent two days finalizing the District’s first update of those principals in 15 years.

“This drives the work that we do. In terms of setting our goals and developing our strategic plan, it’s the foundation for all of our work,” said Dr. Jason Andrews, Superintendent of the Windsor Central School District.

The group that crafted the new language included administrators, teachers, students and parents. One of those parents, Joanna Volkert, has a five-year-old son and a six-year-old daughter in the District.

“It matters a lot to me that both of their needs will be met,” said Volkert. “This is a roadmap for new teachers and administrators coming into the District.”

“It’s re-energizing work,” said Science teacher Deb Kalivoda. “It puts the big picture in place and gives us the reason why we do what we do.”

The wording for the District’s new mission and vision is more concise. This is by design.

“We’ve done such a nice job of making it something we can strive to attain. Keeping it shorter makes it easier for people to keep it in the forefront of their mind,” said 2nd Grade teacher Kim Crisanti.

The following is the District’s new wording for its mission, vision and core beliefs. You can also find them on the District website at http://www.windsor-csd.org/VisionMissionBeliefsandGoals.aspx:
