Arsenault Earns Eagle Scout Rank

The average age of a Boy Scout who achieves the rank of Eagle is 17.3 years old. Christian Arsenault earned the rank on October 5th – almost a year before he will enter high school.

“I just had the opportunity so I took the ball and ran with it,” said Arsenault.

The Windsor 8th grader was able to earn the rank so quickly, in part, because both of his parents have volunteered at Camp Tuscarora in Windsor. He spent five weeks each of the last two years at the Boy Scouts of America camp, and four weeks there three years ago. His time on the 1200-acre campus has allowed him to earn 62 badges, including 13 needed to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.

“I like a lot of the nature activity we do in Scouts. Some of my merit badges are in Nature and Wildlife, Soil and Water Conservation, and Astronomy,” said Arsenault.

Arsenault had to complete an Eagle project to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. He replaced the sign and updated the landscaping at Lighthouse Community Church. After completing his project and earning the requisite badges he still had to pass the Eagle Board of Review.

“There was so much paperwork it’s stressful. But, when you get it done you’re so relieved you just want to dance,” said Arsenault. “When I first heard the news I was overwhelmed.”

Arsenault may be ahead of schedule but he will continue his scouting career. He will spend even more time at Camp Tuscarora next year as he will be a Counselor-In-Training.

“I enjoy helping the younger Scouts and helping them achieve their requirements,” said Arsenault.

Arsenault’s Eagle Scout ceremony will be December 16th.
