Dr. Edward Klesse graduated from Chatham High School in Chatham, New Jersey; Rutgers The State University of New Jersey (B.A. in sociology); and The Pennsylvania State University (M.Ed. and D.Ed. in counselor education).  He also holds a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) in school administration and supervision from the State University of New York at Cortland.

He has worked as a junior high school guidance counselor, college career counselor, director of pupil personnel services/high school counselor, and assistant superintendent of schools.  Most of his professional career has been spent working in the Windsor Central School District, Windsor, New York.

In addition, Dr. Klesse has been an adjunct lecturer at the State University of New York at Oneonta, teaching graduate courses in the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling.  For thirteen years, he was the administrative codirector of the Maine National Leadership Camp, an intensive, five-day, summer leadership training program for high school students, sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

Dr. Klesse has also served on numerous scholarship and award committees for NASSP and has regularly been a staff member for the National Association of Student Councils’ annual conference.  He is also the author of a number of publications published by NASSP and in 2004 wrote his first book Student Activities in Today’s Schools – Essential Learning For All Youth.  Most recently he served as a member of the School Administrators Association of New York State’s Blue Ribbon Commission on Youth Leadership supported by The Magellan Foundation.  In February of 2008, Dr. Klesse received a Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of Secondary School Principals at their annual convention in San Antonio, Texas.

He is married to Jan Klesse and has one adult daughter – Kim a veterinarian in Massachusetts and three step-children.
